Thai People

by Dennis on October 26, 2005

In 1998 when I was ‘Walking For Thailand’ I went into the post office in Phuket town with many post cards to send by airmail around the world. I had put them in a yellow plastic bag with my passport, bank book and some cash…

Having purchased the stamps I stuck them on the postcards & put these in the airmail letterbox. I had forgotten about my plastic bag still on the counter…
I left the post office and after 5 minutes realised I had left the plastic bag at the post office…Have you ever done anything so stupid?…

I walked back as fast as I could without actually running, which is what I wanted to do and went to the counter. My yellow plastic bag was still there…So were the passport, the bank book and the cash…

The moral of this story is that most Thai people are honest…Especially in the rural areas of Thailand… This same thing happened to a Thai friend of mine in Nan last week…The honesty is still a part of the Thai Culture…

This is another reason to Escape to Thailand and feel safe living and travelling among the Thai people…

Of course in the big cities, especially Bangkok, be extra vigilant, as pick pockets are about especially in a crowded subway or skyway train or bus…

Join us & Escape to Thailand…The Land of Happy Smiles…

Keep Smiling!

Yours truly
