Friday, October 28th, 2005The Loy Krathong Festival is on Saturday 24th November 2007…The night of the full moon in the 12th lunar month and the Thai people turn out in their thousands along the rivers, ponds, lakes and sea shore…Whole families, old and young, lovers holding hands…Each carries their Krathong…
A coin, a lock of hair, or for the lovers a lock of each others hair, and a wish…With a little prayer the candles and incense are lit and the flower boat is gently floated…They watch till the little boats float away into the distance…
In country districts the little flower boats can be seen in the canals and ditches and almost anywhere where there is a little water…
In Chiang Mai and the North of Thailand, hot air paper balloons & sky lanterns fill the night sky with twinkling lights…It is also the time of year for lovely fireworks displays…

The Loy Krathong Festival is especially beautiful in Mae Hong Son where you sail your Krathong on the lake and release your balloons & sky lanterns at Wat Doi Kong Mu…On top of the hill overlooking the town…
