HOTELS

The Inn Come Hotel & it’s sister hotel The Ruantip Hotel where we stayed when we were Walking For Thailand in 1998:

These hotels have fantastic discos and the entrance to the disco at the Inn Come Hotel resembles a spaceship.

GUEST HOUSES.

I always stay at Boon Bun Dan Guest House in the soi beside Wat Jedyod. I have been staying there for 10 years & the rooms are clean and good value with a choice of fan and aircon rooms. They have a restaurant with daily newspapers & tours are available. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Akha River House is situated on the Kok riverside. It’s the only locally owned and managed hill tribe retreat in Chiang Rai province.

Khun Apae owns The Akha River House & The Akha Hill House.

They can arrange treks and sightseeing tours and their accomodation and restaurant are excellent in both locations.

PS. Guest House  at 82/2 Kholoy M. 21, Robwiang, Muang, Chiang Rai. Phone: 081 0234164 & 081 0771485 has excellent accomodation & rooms have fridge, satellite TV & internet. There is a bar & restaurant. Great value for money & friendly crowd.

Orchids Guest House is safe, nice and friendly on Jedyod Road. It has excellent facilities and is great value for money:

SHOPPING

The Night Market area is excellent for shopping every evening and there are many food stalls where you can buy your evening meal at very cheap prices.

BARS

FUNNY HOUSE is owned by Klaus Kruger and his wife Kitiya. Klaus comes from Germany and has excellent food and a great drinking atmosphere. If you are British you are very welcome as long as you don’t mention the war.

LUCKY U BAR is run by Henry from Brooklyn, New York. Henry is very friendly & will make you most welcome.

CRAZY JOE’S BAR is run by Joe from Brooklyn, New York. Joe has been in Chiang Rai for 18 years and is a unique character. He has a heart of gold.
