Live Earth will raise world awareness of the threat of global warming…Live Earth will jump start an ongoing, global effort that will drive a critical mass of people to stand up and make challenging global warming a priority in their lives…
WHO IS OUR FAMILY ON EARTH?
Our brothers & sisters are the flowers, rivers, waterfalls, trees, air, soil, birds, insects, animals & all the people of the world…We need each other…Like links in a chain of life…
HOW DOES OUR FAMILY HELP US?
The rivers give us water & fish…The trees keep the water & make the soil good…Every year, the birds & insects plant new trees & flowers for us…The forest also gives us deer, wild boar, mushrooms, sweet vegetable, red ant eggs, Thai medicines & wood…Best of all, the trees make the air, so we can breathe, as well as cleaning the dirty air…Finally the air gives us the sky so we can fly to another world…
HOW CAN WE HELP OUR FAMILY?
Like air, water is life…In our home, we can help by using less water & electricity… For example, maybe we can soap our bodies before turning on the shower & use a bowl of water to wash the dishes in, instead of leaving the tap on…We can use very small amounts of washing up liquid & washing powder, because these products have dirty chemicals which go into our rivers & kill the fish…Chemical insect sprays make our air very bad…So maybe we can stop ants with chalk or water…Perhaps sell or recycle our rubbish, because if we throw it away, it makes our soil & water bad…For example, did you know that nearly 90% of the rubbish floating in the sea is plastic…So next time you go to the market, can you ask for your food in a banana leaf or paper bag instead of a plastic bag…And did you know that burning white foam food containers increases Global Warming?…Motorbike & car exhaust smoke is another thing which is bad for our air…So maybe we can get around town by bicycle instead, and travel up country by bus or train…Or walk more often…
WHERE DO WE COME FROM?
Perhaps we can think back to the day we were born & ask ourselves…“Does the Earth come from Man, or does Man come from the Earth?…Does the Earth belong to Man, or does Man belong to the Earth?”…The journey of life is a two way street…So if WE take care of MOTHER EARTH…Maybe MOTHER EARTH will take care of US…Here are some ideas for you from Philips Electronics…A simple switch to reduce energy consumption…
